As of next week, Facebook will be releasing the update we have all secretly been wishing for: GIF comments. As many are aware, Facebook has never been very proactive about integrating GIFs into their social platform. Throughout 2015 and part of 2016, users struggled to upload their GIFs as posts, and once they were able to, the image would freeze, defeating the purpose of the whole concept.

However, Facebook has finally come to terms, and according to wersmBut this week, GIFs could finally make their way to where they make the most sense: comments.

Adding a GIF in a Facebook comment will work in a very similar way to how they are shared on Messenger: Tap on the “GIF” button, and you will be able to search through a collection of GIFs from GIPHY and other GIF “providers.”

Facebook is about to get more exciting. Considering the popularity of GIFs as posts, one can only imagine how well the new commenting option will be received. Will it help boost Facebook’s popularity with Digital Natives.
