You may have received a notification of a “class action lawsuit” against Facebook, which allows you to claim $10 by May 2, 2013. Fortunately for you, this is actually not a hoax. But the bad news is you probably already deleted it, because if anything ever looked like a scam email, it was this block of of condescending English and untranslatable legalspeak.

Angel Fraley is a lawyer who challenged Facebook’s policy of using your profile picture to advertise products without your consent. Allegations that she chose to run this suit because she realized, “Fraley vs. Facebook” sounded like the most awesome WWE smackdown ever conceived cannot be confirmed at this time, but what we do know is that if you’ve received an email like the one described above, you’re entitled to cash.

How to claim your money? Locate your email, file a claim form here, and Fraley’s firm will cut you a check in June.

Is there a catch? Yes, a big one. Though there should be enough money from the $20 million suit to compensate the 1.2 million wronged, everyone expects more Facebook users to claim money than were actually involved. Your share goes down with every extra applicant up for compensation, and if the amount per person drops below $4.99, the entire amount goes to charities devoted to the safe use of social media (yes, those do exist). And for those of you wondering, the math checks out. Fraley and her firm received $8 million for their services.

Still, lunch on Facebook is a good deal right? What do you think?
