Spring is coming fast, so what better time than to reassess your social media strategy? Here are six tips from Social Media Today to help you to do some “social media spring cleaning” and stay on track for the rest of the year:

1. Check for brand consistency across all profiles.

It may seem like a trivial point, but if you want your followers to trust your accounts, you need to be sure that they are consistent across all platforms. That means identical descriptions, consistent logos, and corporate usernames.

Check this stuff every so often, just to be sure. Human error is one of the most easily corrected mistakes.

2. Review monthly activities and engagement by channel.

You may use five different social media sites, but unless you know how much you’re posting or engaging on each one, you can’t know where to focus. On major sites, like Twitter and Facebook, you can check these metrics by going to their dashboard and reviewing how much you posted in a particular period.

Once you know where your getting your greatest ROI, then you can decide which social media accounts to keep and which ones to ditch.

3. Review your goals.

Once you have an idea of how you’re performing, take another look at your goals and reassess. Like all things, you should be checking your goals consistently and tweaking them to meet the market.

4. Set up a content calendar.

A content calendar organizes your campaigns, daily posts, upcoming holidays, and whatever else you think could be useful in marketing. You can find some here.

5. Look at what your competitors are doing.

Check everything above for yourself and then (to the best of your abilities) check the same thing for your competitors. What are they doing better? Where can you outperform them?

It’s important to know what other businesses in your field focus on, so you can stand out.

6. Create new goals.

Once you’ve finished your assessment, make new resolutions for the coming months and year. Map out where you want to be and start implementing your strategy the best you can.
