Twitter is known for being a “town square” of social media, where individuals can philosophize, debate, or provide wit and witticisms. However, the passing of US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia showed the world how Twitter could also serve as platform for expressing profound thanks, admiration, and respect.

As reported by CNET, within hours of Justice Scalia’s death, Twitter received more than 650,000 tweets about Scalia. Message content was varied, ranging from offering condolences to Scalia’s family, praising Scalia’s many contributions and achievements, as well as speculating on what his sudden passing could imply for the future.

Irrespective, Justice Scalia was an impressive figure who served his country until the very end. Just as he did while alive, Scalia in death caused individuals from all camps to express their opinion and generate discussion. Here is a sample of many of the tweets that were sent after Scalia’s death. May he rest in peace.
