In an effort to address the workforce shortages and lack of diversity in the cybersecurity industry, McDonald’s is initiating a new cybersecurity apprenticeship program.

About the program

According to Cybersecurity Dive, McDonald’s will invite students from local city colleges to join an apprenticeship program at its headquarters in Chicago, where they will learn what it’s like to work within the cybersecurity space. McDonald’s created the initiative after the Biden administration launched its 120-day Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Sprint earlier this year, calling on corporations to consider adopting a “Registered Apprenticeship model” in order to “develop and train a skilled and diverse cybersecurity workforce.”

As of this post’s publication, McDonald’s has yet to release details about the program and eligibility requirements.
