If your name is George Washington, then you might be eligible to participate in the strangest sweepstakes of the summer: Wrangler for Washingtons. Recently, Jeep announced that if America wins the 2026 World Cup championship, it’s giving away all-new 2026 Wranglers to 100 individuals legally named George Washington.
Wrangler for Washingtons
According to the brand’s June 11 press release:
“Jeep brand is putting its own red, white, and blue twist on the biggest global soccer tournament of the summer… if the U.S. team finishes on top of the world this summer, the first 100 eligible living Americans legally named George Washington who register will have the chance to drive home in a new Jeep Wrangler.”
To promote the campaign, Jeep partnered with popular American comedian Iliza Shlesinger to create a humorous promo video titled: “All in on America.” Running on television and Jeep’s social media channels, the video features Shlesinger quipping about the giveaway while sitting in a room decked with patriotic décor – including the famous Washington Crossing the Delaware painting reimagined with a Jeep twist.
When discussing her thoughts on the initiative, Shlesinger shared:
“The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way.”
True to its American roots

While Jeep began as an American-based military vehicle manufacturer working with the U.S. Army in World War II, the brand is now owned by Stellantis, a multinational automotive manufacturing company. However, Jeep’s marketing remains thoroughly American, earning it the title: “America’s most patriotic brand” for the past 25 years. Global chief marketing officer of Stellantis, Olivier François, recently commented on the new campaign:
“As America’s most patriotic brand, tying America’s victory to the country’s founding father and original trailblazer gives 100 of our fans another unexpected reason to cheer.”
Considering America’s odds of winning this year’s FIFA tournament currently stand at 35:1, the likelihood of a bunch of George Washingtons driving around in new Wranglers is pretty slim. But we appreciate Jeep’s “playful [and] patriotic” celebration of American sports and admire how the brand is capitalizing on the FIFA fever.
Those interested (and eligible) can register for the giveaway at wranglerforwashingtons.com. For those not eligible, the contest is open from now until the final World Cup match on July 19, so if you’re confident in America’s odds and desperate for a new Wrangler, there’s still time to change your name to George Washington…
