From Mashable:

Ubermedia’s new social media network, Chime.in, is trying to set itself apart in an already populated social world, and they’re hoping that its features will stand out in the crowd.

The new way to connect with Chime.in is the “chime,” which is best described as “a cross between a Facebook status update and a blog post.”  They are indeed like blog posts, with headlines and images or other multimedia, but also include tags and the ability for other users to comment and share.  Chime.in also incorporates a Reddit style voting system for comments on chimes.

Another unique feature is the control users have over their profiles, with the ability to choose advertising and sponsors that are displayed on their page.  Ubermedia has already struck deals with several large companies to promote Chime.in.

Ubermedia also created Chime.in with mobile functionality, with mobile apps for iOS, Android, and Blackberry that integrate all internet features seamlessly.  Ubermedia also boasts that it solves a major problem with almost instant loading times, due to cacheing and Chime.in hosting the content that is posted on the social site.

Ubermedia is making major pushes to help Chime.in take off.  In a social world already full of options, will it succeed?  Only time will tell if Chime.in has the features and improvements people are looking for in today’s social world.
