Not too long ago Google released Auto Awesome for Google+, a feature that uses custom algorithms to automatically enhance photos based upon what a computer thinks the photo should look like. Now Google is giving photographers and photo junkies alike more granular control of how their photos should look. Google is rolling out new photo enhancement options which are the product of their acquisition of Snapseed. The options have been available on the Android and iOS mobile apps for awhile and are now they’re becoming available on your desktop, but only in Chrome for now as it requires native code support.

We knew that Google had made it a priority to make Google+ welcoming to photographers and photo junkies, but the addition of these new photo editing options really helps sets it apart from Facebook and other social networks. If you don’t already use Google+ and it’s Auto Backup feature, these new photo editing features could be a good reason to check it out. Also, if you’re worried about privacy, photos that are uploaded via Google+’s Auto Backup feature are only visible to you unless you share them with your circles.
