Today Twitter launched a new “Related Headlines” section for embedded tweets. Twitter believes this new feature will add value, as it:

“…lists and links to websites where the Tweet was embedded, making it easier to discover stories that provide more context.”

Having additional background information on a tweet is never a bad thing. There are many times when reporters and news agencies will “scandalize” their 140 characters or less to receive a click-through. Some were up-in-arms about this as they thought the related headlines would be displaying on the embedded tweet itself, but Twitter has come out and clarified that the related headlines will only be displaying on the Tweet's permalink on Twitter itself.

We believe related headlines are a valuable addition to Twitter, and should only prove more valuable to “get all the facts” as news sources continue to use Twitter to break news stories around the world. We can't wait to see what they may roll out next.
