Big news! It has just been announced that virtual reality phenomena, the Oculus Rift and the Oculus Touch, are being sold as a bundle for the competitive rate of only $399. While this may sound expensive to those who are not aware of this recent piece of tech, it’s a price cut of nearly $200.

So, what’s the big deal? Virtual reality (VR) has come a long way… and still has a long way to go. According to an in depth review of Oculus Rift, “The Rift feels like a near-perfect execution of the device Oculus promised they would make back during their 2012 Kickstarter. It’s a VR headset that lets us ‘step into the game’ in a powerfully immersive way that’s unlike anything you’ve seen before (assuming you’ve never tried VR).”

Considering that this device debuted in March of last year and is still relatively new to the gaming market, it’s quite a deal. Furthermore, if you take into consideration that this major discount is in addition to the permanent price drop which happened this spring, it means more than $400 in overall savings.

We look forward to seeing virtual reality develop. However, there are still quite a few hurdles to cross. One major one? Nausea. Read about a recent study here. “For years VR has been hyped as the next revolution in computing technology. Facebook, Google, Samsung, and other technology giants are investing heavily in its future. But there’s one big obstacle still in the way: It makes large portions of the population – especially women and children – sick.”
