Pop queen Taylor Swift has done it again, and this time in the form of her own app. Designed as a social media network for her fans, “The Swift Life” was introduced via YouTube video last week. Promising exclusive photos and videos, Taylor will even have a personal account to interact with fans- something that she is notorious for doing on Instagram and Tumblr.
Taylor will also be featuring her own collection of emojis- called “Taymojis”
As it was developed in partnership with the company Glu, some have low expectations for the app. This is because Glu has been known for low quality celebrity game apps in the past, including Katy Perry Pop, Britney Spears: American Dream, Nicki Minaj: The Empire, and Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. However, it’s safe to say that Swift’s fans are hyped to have another social media platform to interact with the artist and bask in all things Taylor.
Glu CEO Nick Earl said of the project, “We’ve worked closely with Taylor and her team to bring her creative vision to life. The result is a deeply social environment where Taylor and her fans are able to better connect with one another while expressing themselves in an interactive community. We look forward to its worldwide launch later this year.”
The app will be free, but will feature in-app purchases. It has been released in beta version, and will be available in app stores before the end of the year. In the words of Taylor herself, “I think you guys are really gonna like this… I mean, I hope. It would be… preferable if you did.”

Small businesses and pop stars alike turn to apps for marketing. Only time will tell if this succeeds for Taylor Swift… but if her previous marketing is any indication, her fans will love it!
