The Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project recently revealed new findings on the exponential growth of social networking, and the results are staggering. Interestingly, the report shows that social media usage transcends race, ethnicity, income, education levels and geographic locations. And considering the fact that only email and search engines have more daily online activity, these findings have serious implications when it comes to finding new ways to grow your business.

According to a new report from the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project, 65 percent of online adults are now involved in social networking. That’s up from 61 percent last year, and is more than double what it was in 2008.

“The pace with which new users have flocked to social networking sites has been staggering,” writes report authors Mary Madden and Kathryn Zickuhr. “When we first asked about social networking sites in February of 2005, just 8 percent of Internet users — or 5 percent of all adults — said they used them.
