When people think about social networking as a tool for hunting down that next career opportunity, LinkedIn is the first thing that pops into everyone’s mind.  However, they aren’t the only game in town.  We’d like to introduce you to this up and coming professional network called Facebook.

Facebook has one huge thing going for it – Apps.  Apps make the world go ‘round. Ok not really, but they do drive a lot of activity on social media. And that activity includes job searches. With the vast stores of data available through Facebook, it’s no surprise that it is a hub for professional activity.

Here are some ways professionals are using Facebook to connect with jobs.

Through various Facebook applications, people are connecting with employers in new and different ways, and employers are seeking out potential employees in new ways as well. For more information on the above list, take a look here. You should really give them a look for yourself though. Try them on and see how they fit.

We’ve all heard horror stories about how people have lost jobs or been fired because of information on their Facebook profiles.  Why not make Facebook work for you instead of against you on the job market?  When it comes to social media, your job is to create a personal brand.  Display that brand in all that you do online, and watch the job offers come pouring in.  Well, pouring in might be a little over the top in this economy, but you get the idea.
