In an effort to promote its new Barbie movie, Mattel is pulling out all the stops to ensure that everyone has a “Barbie-girl summer” and has partnered with Airbnb to offer select fans an overnight stay in Barbie’s Malibu Mansion.

About the Partnership

This Barbie Land creation, which fans can reserve beginning July 17, is just one of the many ways Mattel is striving to promote all things Barbie this summer. Those lucky enough to score a stay at the Malibu Mansion will get to live like Barbie for 24 hours and enjoy a night in the bright pink house brimming with furniture and decor that complement the doll’s iconic style. Mattel even included a nod to Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken, whose name is spelled out in shimmering gold pool floaties! Four applicants will be chosen to experience what life is like in the pretty n’ pink palazzo.

Barbie everything, everywhere

With public excitement brewing over the new movie, Mattel is aiming to reignite consumers’ passion for Barbie products and has partnered with over 100 brands to ensure that “Barbie [is] everywhere.” New dolls depicting Margo Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, as well as countless other products, have been designed surrounding the movie’s release. The parent company hopes that revamping the franchise will create long-term value by not only engaging rising consumers but also re-engaging those who have had a long-standing relationship with the brand. Additional Barbie products include clothing lines with the likes of Gap and Forever 21, cosmetics from NYX, Impala roller-skates, a Barbie-themed X-Box, and even a frozen yogurt flavor!

So far, box office projections for Barbie are looking strong, with opening weekend ticket sales estimated to reach over $93 million.
