After months of testing with select users, this week Instagram released a new feature for Stories: uninterrupted video.

About the update

While previously, any videos uploaded to an Instagram Story were automatically broken up into 15-second segments, users can now upload videos as long as 60 seconds without any disruptions. This change means that users can create longer content without worrying about how it will be segmented, and viewers will be able to tap only once to skip past long videos they don’t want to watch.

When asked about how Instagram decided to add the feature, a Meta spokesperson commented:

“We are always working on ways to improve the Stories experience.”

This addition also comes after Instagram decided to increase the time limit on Reels from 60 to 90 seconds earlier this year as it continues to pursue its 2022 goal of adding new video features.
