Google+ has passed its first year anniversary. At this time it may not be at the user levels of social media giants like Facebook and Twitter, but 150 million active monthly users (75 million of which log in daily) is nothing to be ashamed of. Even with a smaller social footprint, the folks at ComputerWorld think Google+ may have found its niche.

“Google+ is at the heart of our efforts to create a simpler, more intuitive experience for all Google users.” — Vic Gundotra, Google Senior Vice President of Engineering

Google+ is finding its niche by integrating with nearly every Google product, adhering to Google’s goal of simplifying sharing to keep everything within a user’s Google world. So even if the user numbers aren’t exactly where Google hoped they would be, Google+ is still on the right track. Competing for users in the social media space isn’t getting any easier, and as Moor Insights & Strategy analyst Patrick Moorhead put it: “Google+ needs to show how…integration improves the experience.” In doing this, Google stands to gain ground on the other social media giants by showing just how and why Google+ is a worthwhile social media experience.
