Next up on Google’s ever-growing list of acquisitions is Word Lens, a cool language app that uses your phone’s camera to translate text in real-time.  Google will implement the technology into it’s already impressively useful Google Translate app as soon as possible.  The app is currently available on Android and iOS, but don’t expect updates anytime soon, especially regarding the iOS version.

The purchasing of third party apps has become something of a trend recently, with Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Apple all grabbing promising little companies.  This seems like a good thing for the smaller companies, because they make a bunch of money, and the larger corporation gets what they want.  The question is whether the big companies will still innovate, or instead just let the tech stagnate.
