Google announced today that it will be resurrecting one of its sorely-missed features — the ability to make calls straight from your Gmail account. In fact, the feature has been added to both Google+ and Hangouts, so multiple participants can be included in a call at once.

One of the main reasons users missed Google calls is because they're free to the U.S. and Canada (no matter what country you're calling from). And it looks like international rates will remain impressively low as well.

“Hangouts is designed to be the future of Google Voice,” senior software engineer Alex Wiesen said in the announcement this morning. “Making and receiving calls is just the beginning. So stay tuned for future updates.”
