But to harness the power of video, you first must understand how people prefer to consume it. New research shows that 85 percent of people like watching with the sound off, and that most people are more likely to finish movies with subtitles. In addition, viewers decide fairly quickly if they want to finish a video: 43 percent decide whether to finish in under 15 seconds and 73 percent decide in under 30 seconds.
