Facebook is now looking to increase the content seen by users on their home pages and, to do this, they are moving toward the implementation of several new features. Among them, according to CMSwire:
“…replac[ing the Most Recent tab] with a real-time activity feed inside the Chat sidebar, slamming users with more information whether they like it or not.”
This change looks to benefit pages by giving them more time in front of faces, but not everyone may like it. One argument is that some heavy users will not enjoy having to open a window from this new sidebar every time they want to expand and read more of a post or article. Suggestion have even been offered to have both, leaving the current Most Recent tab while also offering the new “Real Time” activity in the sidebar. This would allow users to choose and customize their Facebook home pages based on their preferences. So far, this is still in small testing phases, but we may be seeing big changes in the near future.
