PCWorld reports on Google and Samsung’s decision to postpone an event launching their latest device.

Google and Samsung postponed plans to launch a new smartphone tomorrow because, Google said, “We believe this is not the right time to announce a new product as the world expresses tribute to Steve Job’s passing.”

The two companies have created major hype across the web over the last few weeks, with teaser videos, photos and speculation about the latest smartphone device specifications and operating system.  But with the launch scheduled for just days after the announcement of the new iPhone4S and the unfortunate passing of the legendary Steve Jobs, no one can deny the Apple “buzz” that has been so prevalent in the media over the past week.

And while some have speculated that the smartphone postponement has more to do with device setbacks and operating system delays, analysts agree that the timing was off for such an announcement.

Out of respect for an innovator in the field of mobile technology, and partly as a business decision, the launch event postponement was a smart move.  The world has waited this long for the launch of the next Android operating system and new ‘Google’ phone, a few more weeks should only serve to build anticipation.
