YouTube just reached another milestone: An unbelievable 60 hours of video us uploaded to the video-sharing site every minute. To commemorate this groundbreaking milestone, the folks at YouTube have come up with a new website — www.onehourpersecond.com/ — and short video (how fitting) that helps put these numbers into perspective. These both are really something to behold.
YouTube has also just recently reached 4 billion+ views per day. In the company’s own words: “That’s up 25 percent in the last eight months and the equivalent of more than half the world’s population watching a video every day, the same number as there are US $1 bills in circulation, the same as number of years since there was water on Mars…it’s a big number, and you’re making it bigger every day.”
This is just another glimpse at the explosion of online video. Who knows where the numbers will be by year’s end, but we can’t wait to see what YouTube has in store for us, and the rest of the world.
