Google became the search engine standard by developing a very complex algorithm designed to bring you the most relevant search results possible. Google regularly updates this algorithm in order to maintain the accuracy and relevance of search results as millions of people around the world seek to exploit the code to skew search results in their favor.
Beyond search, Google has entered our lives in some pretty amazing ways. Google maps, and Google Navigate (for Android users) have basically made the paper map obsolete. Paper maps can’t give you real time traffic updates and show you gas stations along your route.
The Android system is rapidly outpacing iPhone, partly due to the integration of Google web apps into the smartphone operating system. With considerably better search and navigation powered by Google, Android phone penetration into the market was significantly more successful than that of iPhone.
Google also brought us Google Earth. Hey, who doesn’t need the ability to see their house from space? From Google Earth and Google Maps, Google even decided to take it one step further with its release of “Street View”, giving your Google maps a 1st person perspective. Recently Google announced that Street view could now take you under the ocean to view wonders like the Great Barrier Reef.
Google revolutionized the Internet once again with its marketing features. Adsense, Adwords, and Webmaster Tools changed the way web marketers advertised online. With a seemingly unlimited amount of data about users’ search habits, Google made it possible to reach target markets with more precision than ever before, and with the addition of Google+ a whole new element was opened into the way Google reaches the consumer.
Google is constantly looking for the new boundary the new digital frontier worth exploring. Google has created Google Mars, and self-driving cars. Google is even researching the best way to bring you augmented reality a way for you to interact visually with information in real time, in the real world.
Our hats are off to you, Google. Changing the world isn’t just something you’ve already done. It’s what you do every day, and we can’t wait to see what’s next!
