Could your smartphone make or break the election? While it may sound crazy, your phone is more than just a reflection of your personality. It also reflects (dare we say, dictates?) your political beliefs and how the election will fall. Our friends at Mashable have generated a helpful infographic with the break down:
- 70% of Droid users lean Republican, while 70% of iPhone owners lean Democrat — the most popular smartphones by state actually bears a striking resemblance to projected electoral maps.
- While the campaigns of both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama spent less than 50 million on mobile advertising this election cycle, mobile phones have raised over 600 million for the two candidates combined.
- Nearly half a million people have registered to vote via an open source registration app created by the Obama campaign, in Washington alone!
- If one uses cellphones to predict who wins the battleground states (Ohio Virginia, Wisconsin, and Iowa), Romney breaks all predictions and wins by a landslide of 307 electoral votes to Obama’s 227. Then again,
- If one replaces the Electoral College projection map with the OS preference map, Obama wins 285-253.
