Twitter creates fame. It's as simple as that. Psy, Bieber, those autotuned videos everyone likes. They all became famous originally through Twitter. And now Twitter has become an even greater kingmaker thanks to the new mobile app.
The app turns Twitter into a musical search engine, going through tweets across the network to find what's trending, or simply what's mentioned. It then displays what it finds on four panels you can easily scroll through. You can use it to listen to artists you like, discover new artists, or just to keep up on what’s happening in the music world.
Despite the app's apparent utility, there has been some speculation as to how valuable it actually is. Facebook provides a deeper experience, and an unmatchable experience. Twitter can’t create a Twitter Home because Facebook simply has more content available, and that content is more personalized to you, the user. There is also the significant question of how this app generates revenue for Twitter. Twitter has not announced if they will ‘promote’ music, or use the data from the app to sell to marketers.
Still, we know we’re getting this as soon as we can. What about you?
