In the shadow of Amazon’s drone announcement and Google scheme to provide internet via drifting, solar-powered helium balloons, Facebook is now currently discussing business with Titan Aerospace, with an eye to purchase the solar-powered drone manufacturer.  The drones in question harness sunlight to reach heights of 20KM above sea level, and can remain at that altitude for 5 years with no need to land or refuel.  Supposedly, Facebook’s plan is to create a system or ‘net’ in the sky out of the drones, and transmit internet access across the better part of the globe, including some developing nations.

If the deals pans out for Facebook, it could be some very exciting news for internet development and tech progression in general.
