Researchers at Dartmouth have created an Android app that monitors student’s behavior, like how long they sleep, how much they talk, stress levels, and eating habits.  Researchers were then able to use this data to determine if particular students in a test group we depressed or stressed.

A clear link was found between mental health and academic performance.  For instance, students with high levels of social activity tend to average higher grades, but may also be less physically active.

The app is still being developed, and there is a chance that a more-complete version could warn students if their mental health was worsening, and adjust a GPA prediction to reflect this.

Outside of the test program, there are some security and privacy concerns for the future, but the chance of an app that gives you mental diagnoses on the go is intriguing to say the least.
