A former Facebook designer has developed a new app system to coordinate developer teams in an easy, streamlined, and lightning-fast manner, which has been a fairly empty market until now.

The service is called Wake, and is accessible anywhere through the web or a centralized iOS app.  The most interesting part of Wake’s philosophy is its “anti-perfectionism,” which early customers are lauding as a welcome departure from other apps’ tendencies to act like immaculate portfolios.

Wake just makes it really easy to get an answer to the question: “How does this look?”  Chris Kalani, the aforementioned Facebook designer, had enough experience under his belt to realize that he couldn’t take another day without a tool that let him and his team keep each other in the loop moment-to-moment, and under a unified aesthetic.  Emailing screenshots and walking to other people’s desks had to go.  Kalani had already started on the initial version of Wake when he got hired by Facebook, and spent no time sharing it with his coworkers.

Wake users authorize other team members to join a private space, where anyone inside can post their progress from the web or their smartphone, and get instant comments.

The app is ready to start opening up beta access to more teams, and after a 30-day free trial will cost $15 a month, per user.
